Sunshine volunteers

You can be part of a Sunshine child’s once-in-a-lifetime dream.

Volunteers are the very heart of our organization, coast to coast. Sunshine volunteers come from all walks of life, and take on all kinds of roles in their local chapters, from promoting fundraising events, to presenting dreams, to the administration of the chapter itself.

Give a little or give a lot: your time is the most unselfish gift you can give. Your local Sunshine chapter needs your talents and your caring year-round:

  • Help to plan and arrange supplies for your annual Walk for Children’s Dreams.
  • Work with a child’s family to deliver a dream gift.
  • Plan and help out with a fundraiser such as a golf tournament or children’s art auction.
  • Put on the Sunshine Bear costume and become our mascot for the day.
  • Meet with local businesses and media to build support for Sunshine.
  • Help keep other volunteers informed of important developments in your community.

And more … and more.

What kind of commitment is expected?

That's really up to you. Chapter leaders are likely to spend 15 to 25 hours a month on Foundation work. Volunteers for specific committees and events typically contribute 4 to 10 hours per month, depending on the time of year and the local event schedule. Some volunteers are "on call" and pitch in for one or two events per year.

When you volunteer, it's important to decide how involved you want to be and to make your commitment known to the rest of the Chapter. No amount of your time or effort is too small for us to say "Thank you!"
